A Serbian Film

A SERBIAN FILM

Review by: Blake Redding

*UPDATE* I originally wrote this review 8 months ago and I was under the impression that I was in possession of the uncut release. Unfortunately I was wrong so this is a review for the CENSORED version (if you can believe that.) The uncut version was released after the child pornography lawsuit filed against the filmmakers was dropped. My twisted fuck cohort Jimmy Squarejaw was on the pre-order list for the uncut version and assures me there is a few more bits of nasty poo poo in the flick.

*WARNING*
All movies reviewed for SUNDAY SNUFF contain graphic depictions that may include rape, live animals being murdered, and extreme gore. None of the writers condone such acts we just watch this shit.

Every once in a while a movie comes out that everyone says ‘is the most shocking movie in the world.’ It started with FACES OF DEATH, which I watched as a young tween: Meh, pretty fake looking and nothing to write home about. Then out came IRREVERSIBLE and most recently THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE flicks. Although both had some shocking moments, I never found myself, mouth agape, saying “HOLY FUCK” out loud to the TV.

Then I watched A SERBIAN FILM…

The movie is about a retired, aging porn star named Milos who is now living the suburban family life with his beautiful wife and 8 year old son. Although seemingly content with his new more subdued lifestyle, Milos is having a hard time making ends meet for him and his family. It seems his luck has changed when he gets an offer from an eccentric movie director to make one last film, and offers him a wage he just can’t refuse. Needless to say Milos agrees to do the film and signs the contract. What the director failed to mention however is that the scenes he will be filming are of real life murder, bestiality, child porn, rape, incest, and the ultimate “holy fuck” moment…newborn porn.

Now I have seen my fair share of so called “shocking” movies, but that doesn’t even begin to describe this movie. It is downright vile, and I mean that in the best way possible. The story itself is very engrossing and you actually care for the characters, which makes it even that much worse when the ultra violence begins to happen to them. The cinematography is excellent and the movie looks beautiful unlike a lot of extreme flicks. The soundtrack works really well with every scene: From the intense industrial tracks during the darker moments, to the atmospheric, more airy type compositions during the lighter, happier parts. Every single person in this movie needs to be mentioned for their fantastic acting. These could not have been easy roles to play! This movie does not rely on ANY cut away shots. We see every horrible thing in gruesome detail. All the effects are done very well, chopped off heads, brutal gunshots, broken out teeth and much, much more. Have you ever seen anybody literally get skull fucked?! Well, that happens.

Overall, this movie is not an easy watch, but you will not be able to look away. It’s like watching a car wreck…if the car wreck consisted of bloody people being raped in the seats! Watch this movie at least once, because I can honestly say…this is the most shocking movie I have ever seen, and you can quote me on that.

Blake and Jimmy’s Extreme-O-Gauge!

Rape: 5 out of 5, men, women, and unfortunately kids. Brutal

Realistic Gore: 5 out of 5, the effects are spot on and things get gory as hell!! Not for the squeamish.
Animal Death: 0 out of 5
Torture: 4 out of 5, psychological and physical.
Necrophilia: 2 out of 5, because it is not shown, but the end scene only available in the uncut version is FUCKED!
Overall Movie: 5 out of 5, crazy story, amazing effects, great cinematography.  This is one of the best!
