*WARNING*
All movies reviewed for SUNDAY SNUFF contain
graphic depictions that may include rape, live animals being murdered, and
extreme gore. None of the writers condone such acts we just watch
this shit.
“A totally twisted deep-fried Texas redneck trailer park
murder story.” That’s the tagline of KILLER JOE and it sums it up perfectly.
Directed by William Friedkin (THE EXCORCIST) and based on the 1993 play of the same
name, this is a movie that I have had on my radar for a while now. I kept
reading raving reviews and how awesome Matthew McConaughey is in it. Well,
absolutely everything I read was true… this movie is fucking AWESOME! It
completely exceeded my expectations.
A young trailer park man owes his drug dealers some money
and they are going to kill him if he doesn’t pay up. Him and his half retarded
redneck dad devise a plan to kill his deadbeat mother for her life insurance
policy. They get in touch with Joe Cooper, a Dallas PD detective by day, and a
hit man by night. The only problem with the plan is that they can’t pay Joe
until they cash in on the insurance policy. So Joe takes a retainer; the guys
jailbait little sister. Things get pretty creepy in a LOLITA kind of way. Unfortunately,
the policy pays out to his mom’s boyfriend, not them. Now Killer Joe wants his
money or he is keeping the retainer for his sex slave. Let the double crossing
begin.
Matthew McConaughey can play a psychopath like nobodies
business. He takes his character from TCM: NEXT GENERATION and kicks it up 100
notches. He is cool and collected one minute, then can flip the switch in a
second to cold-blooded murderer and ranting lunatic. There is scene between
Killer Joe and the young sister Dottie that will have you questioning your
morals. Shit gets weird. The scenes of violence come out of left field and are
brutal as hell. You will never look at a piece of fried chicken the same way
again. He makes a bloodied and bashed Gina Gershon suck on the chicken leg like
it’s his dick while giving a monologue on the etiquette of paying for services
rendered, good shit. The ending is
where most of the blood shed happens, and there is a LOT! Bullet wounds and
face bashing are the main course in this movie. The way the violence is shot
and fantastic gore effects make it very realistic and believable.
I really can’t say enough good things about KILLER JOE. It
is paced perfectly, violent, funny, suspenseful, and VERY well acted. It pulls
off the dirty white trash vibe perfectly. There are some plot twists that
really add to the story that I didn’t see coming. It may not be the most
violent or gory movie that I have ever seen, but Matthew McConaughey’s
performance is definitely SNUFF worthy! Check this movie out as soon as
possible,

Animal Death: 0 out of 0.
Necrophilia: 0 out of 0, nada!
Torture: 4 out of five, mental and physical
